Responding to guarding our children

I was personally involved with a nursery molestation case that was mentioned by S. Finkelstein Olah L'shalom. My heart goes out to him and his pure family! He wrote a letter to all of us prior to his petirah. In his blog he predicted what may happen to a victim only to have it happen to him only weeks later.. may hashem rest his pure neshama. With that, he left all of us with an important message to do something about it.in the frum world.
The nursery case which took place many years ago, was closed down and the family responsible was evicted from our town... BH. At that time, I felt that public knowledge needed to be addressed regarding this, to prevent other children from falling victim, I personnally tried to do as S. Finkelstein warned us to do, "guard our children from this horrifying malady" that has infested our communities. The only way to stop this, is by having these pedophile criminals behind bars were they belong...

We tried to distribute tapes, prevention literature, publication of articles in the media, concerning this issue, so that parents would be aware and on guard as much as possible. Our attempts were swiftly stopped by some influential people that caused our family untold hardships and obstacles. Why? I still have not figured it out..Just as I cant fathom that a nursery that has 5 allegations is still running in our town?

Perhaps, Shui would have been spared his ordeal and his life would be saved, if the cycle of silence would have been broken then.. and how many other victims too?

This is a "wake up" call for all of us to address this issue in our communities, because it can happen to anyone!
